Last Saturday homeside Lansdowne seemed to has out in the final quarter as a clinical Brooklyn side impressed in victory. Lansdowne struck 1st in minute 6. A sublime dash by Dillon Casey got Lansdowne to within 20 meters of the goal. A Brooklyn infringement saw Barry Enright split the uprights to give the homeside an early advantage. Twelve minutes later Brooklyn struck back. Sustained pressure by their powerful pack got them close, and they were rightfully awarded a penalty try. Lansdowne regained the lead in minute 28. Eddie Ringler and co-Man of the Match Niall Dillon linked up superbly in the lineout, and Dillon Casey came out with possession. Dillon beautifully juked out 4 defenders and slammed down while Barry Enright added the conversion. Brooklyn responded late in the half. Sublime work by their pack got the ball out wide, and their backs put on a clinic and touched down in the corner. A fantastic touchline conversion by the Brooklyn 10 had them up by 4 at the half.
The 2nd half started and fantastic work by Dominic Sofe and co-Man of the Match Ronan Costello got the Irishmen in close. Dominic deftly peeled out of a ruck, slammed down and Barry Enright converted in minute 45, thereby regaining the lead for the Irishmen. Brooklyn responded 13 minutes later. Their magnificent fullback, who tormented Lansdowne all day long, dashed 30 meters into goal as the visitors regained the lead. The advantage changed hands yet again as superb lineout work by Tom Murray and Connacht Steven saw John McGuinness burst through the Brooklyn defense which put Lansdowne up by 3 in minute 67. But Brooklyn continued their impressive responses and regained the lead in minute 72 with a converted try in the corner. The visitors finished up the numbers at the death with yet another superb dash by their fullback.
